THE TRAIN NOISE REMAIN. Intervention project at Chiador Railway Station – MG

Professional Master Degree Dissertation

Professional Master Degree Dissertation

The ruins of Chiador Railway Station make up an important architectural example of the 19th century railway memory. Located on a route that contributed effectively to the development of the country, on the banks of the old Dom Pedro II Railway, the station is present in a rural village in the municipality of Chiador, Zona da Mata mineira. In spite of its patrimonial relevance, it is in very poor state of conservation. The materiality and memory represented by the station has been undergoing continuous ruin. With the study of the architectural object, guided by the methodology and specialized bibliography, an intervention proposal was developed for the Chiador Railway Station and its immediate surroundings. The dialogue between the pre-existing elements and the new ones inserted in the proposal, allow the attribution of uses to the ruins, reinforcing its meaning and historical period.

Keywords: ruins; railway patrimony; Chiador; train station.
