Professional Master Degree Dissertation
In this dissertation we seek to characterize the public free spaces and the existing landscape in the city of Santo Amaro das Brotas - SE, founded in 1699 under Portuguese rule. Then one broadens the look under two squares: Praça Cel. Jacinto Ribeiro and Praça São Benedito, paying attention to the symbol-morphological issues, the daily uses and as the stage of the diverse cultural manifestations existing in the city. From the analysis, it is evident the need for landscape requalification of the squares in order to strengthen the relationship between surroundings and fallen goods and, mainly, preserve their use as places of memory and identity. To deal with the complexity of the intersection between landscape and cultural heritage, the elaboration of the intervention proposal was based on referential research, cadastral surveys, participatory workshops with the community in order to understand their desires and issues in front of the city's free spaces.
Keywords: free space systems, cultural heritage; squares; Landscape requalification; Participatory process, Santo Amaro das Brotas / SE.
