The present work seeks to develop a project proposal for the immediate surroundings of the building at Rua Mata Machado nº 126, Maracanã, based on the observation of the sociospatial fragmentation of the urban cultural landscape of this region in Rio de Janeiro, based on the patrimonial good built and remnant in the neighborhood, although morphologically and culturally modified. Based on issues related to memory and cultural diversity identified in the surroundings, this research aims to develop its analysis, starting from the observation of local ambiences and the case study focused on the spatial cut of the urban context, more specifically the block where the city is located the Journalist Mario Filho Stadium - the Maracanã. In addition to macroscopic analysis - here related to the gathering of pre-existing information about the case study and a broader view on clipping - we also use microscopic analysis, understood as a keen look at the issue through the application of the methodology “Commented Paths” established by Jean-Paul Thibaud (2013). Possessing the information obtained through this methodology, and in line with the theoretical foundation and established macro analyzes, we propose an architectural and urbanistic intervention for the analyzed spatial cut, seeking to attend the social, cultural and architectural elements found from research it self, as well as ensuring the contribution and social return of academic research.
