Trabalho de conclusão de Mestrado Profissional
This work presents a restoration and reuses project of the Palacete Praça da República 22 PR22 building. This building is representative of the eclectic architecture of the early 20th century, an example of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, which has been part of the university's heritage since 1945. Located in the Historic Center of the City, in Praça da República, the building was the headquarters of the Institute of Electrotechnics and the School of Communication at UFRJ. It is currently unused, which contributed to the poor state of conservation, compromising the potential unity of the image of the property in question. The objective of this work is to point out the need to carry out a restoration project, with the assignment of new use, giving it back its social function, therefore, the reuse of the building for restoration workshops, adapted to contemporary activities, proves to be effective. to this end. We sought to apply the concepts of use as a principle of preservation, considering that the importance of uninterrupted use in favor of the architectural work of old buildings is essential for the maintenance of these structures.
