The Sant´Ana do Piraí Church has its origins in the old Chapel of Sant´Anna in the mid-1770s, and its foundation is intertwined with the settlement and growth of the municipality of Piraí, located in the Vale do Café region, in the State of Rio de Janeiro. January. Its construction began around 1832, being inaugurated in 1841. Its historical importance is recognized through municipal listing in 2005 and state listing through INEPAC in 2018. The research starts from the recognition of the historical importance of the church and the old Chapel of Our Lord dos Passos, listed as heritage, and analyzes the state of conservation and the problems faced by the surroundings of these assets. Over the 182 years of existence, the church has been greatly altered, with works carried out inside and around the church, whose annexes altered its volume, interfering with the composition and devaluing the protected heritage. The current state of the church and its immediate surroundings were identified, its heritage value was recognized and interventions were proposed for the restoration and revitalization of religious heritage, with strategies and preliminary design definitions for its protection and revitalization. It is proposed to demolish buildings attached to the church and the listed parish house, with a view to creating free spaces and enhancing the heritage complex, with the creation of a churchyard and a new house and parish hall. A revitalization is proposed for the space in front of the church, enhancing the view of the city and the Mata do Amador Municipal Natural Park, and for parking, in order to generate more spaces and better integration with the urban environment. It is also proposed to change the use of the old Chapel of Nosso Senhor dos Passos to an exhibition room for sacred art and the creation of a store and café in the immediate surroundings. The proposed interventions are marked by contemporary architecture in contrast to the listed heritage. The restoration of heritage is approached considering the principles of distinguishability, reversibility and minimum intervention, guaranteeing the conservation and preservation of its vocation as a monument. Motor accessibility is foreseen, with the inclusion of ramps to facilitate access to the interior of the church. The dissertation contributes to the appreciation of the region's historical and religious heritage, allowing future generations to appreciate and understand the importance of these assets for the community and the state of Rio de Janeiro.
